A free demo landed on the Steam store on 5 October 2026, well ahead of Steam Next Fest, and the developers have kept it online since. It is a curated slice rather than a timed trial: there is no countdown and no purchase requirement, and the same build receives balance fixes as the team reacts to feedback.
The studio's own note on length is unusually blunt — many players have spent one, two, even three hours inside it. That range comes from how much of Hounds' Camp you engage with rather than from how much content exists.
What is in the build
- Two playable archetypes, the Sheriff and the Deadeye, each with a signature weapon, an active ability and its own passives.
- The Hounds' Camp shop, where weapons, abilities, archetype passives and gloves are bought with what you loot.
- The Eye Angel, a boss encounter that closes the slice.
- Sequence shooting and parry shooting, taught in the tutorial but not enforced afterwards.
- Hunter's Vision from the end of the tutorial, mapped to
Q.
The five hotfixes
Between 6 and 15 October the demo was patched five times: the graphics preset detection, an experimental field-of-view slider from 75 to 90, reload speed across every weapon, Codex read speed, enemy aggro ranges, a lower-weapon option and a toggle-or-hold aim setting. If you tried the demo in its first week, the current build is not the one you played.
Two things to check first
- Demo Contents and Length — what the slice covers and how far it takes you.
- Demo Crashing — the known causes, which hotfix fixed which, and what to try if it still fails.
Steam Next Fest is over
The demo participated in Steam Next Fest in October 2026. The festival shut down on 26 October, but the demo did not: the build stays downloadable until launch, or until the studio says otherwise.
